After doing the subtle mind meditation I have to say that it
is far more advanced than the other meditations. At first I found my mind
wanting to think on other things besides the breathing. So I just kept my focus
on breathing until I was able to calm my mind. Once I reached the calming state
I was actually able to follow the instructions on letting my thoughts go and
experience the witnessing. I have to say that this is truly an experience I
liked. When I reached the point that I could just watch my thoughts instead of
being the thought, it became very calming. I surprised myself because I really
was not sure if I could be the watcher instead of the actor. I liked the challenge
of this meditation and look forward to advancing further.
Spiritual wellness is what gives us the ability to have
mental and physical wellness. I realize
that as we connect mentally, psychically and spiritual we see a whole new realm
of inner peace. Without spiritual wellness we are too caught up in our thoughts
that we cannot make a connection. Once we quite our mind we can make the
connection between our mental and physical state of being. This in turn brings
us to the place in which we are striving to be, happy, peaceful, calm and whole.
This is just my thoughts! See you on the
blog.
Love, Light and Blessings

Hi Barbara,
ReplyDeleteI liked the Subtle Mind exercise the best so far too. I liked the long pauses between instruction. The Loving Kindness seemed a little rushed to me; I felt like I was not able to complete a thought before the woman providing the guidance had me on to the next set of thoughts. Out of all the exercises so far, this one I was able to relax the most, therefore, I feel that I took the most from this practice. I know what you mean about becoming a "watcher" of your thoughts instead of the "actor." Isn't that crazy? I had the same things. It's almost like dreaming, except you are awake, and not necessarily daydreaming either. It completely different all together. I like it though!

Hi Mariah, Yes it is like dreaming but with your eyes wide open and you are completely conscious. I can understand why you preferred the Subtle Mind over the Loving-Kindness, it is more relaxing. Thanks for sharing !

Hi Barbara,
ReplyDeleteI think we are all in agreement then I too liked the subtle mind exercise better. I found it more peaceful and not so rushed. I like the calming effect of the shores and waves and enjoy the music when they have it in the background, but usually when I meditate I don't use music, and I am lying in a quiet place. I think I like them both.
Peaceful is what it is all about for me as well. I really am enjoying the journey and each meditation is bring something very powerful for us to learn. Thanks for sharing !

I found this exercise quite peaceful as well. I feel as though this exercise took me to a peaceful place that I have been to in the past but it has been a long time since I have been able to relax and grab the concept of many things without grasping the concept of one particular thing. I look forward to doing more of these types of exercises in the future.
ReplyDeleteHi Tyler, I am glad you enjoyed the peacefulness. This is what it is all about ! The more you do this the better you become. Stick with it and you will see that you can visit this peaceful place when ever you feel the need. I too look forward to more of the meditations!

Hello Barbara,
DeleteI am glad to read that this was a challenge for yourself that you overcame! 'Being the watcher instead of the actor', can be very hard when it comes to our personal thoughts, feelings, and images. I thought that this exercise was very empowering and helped me realize that I really do have a choice as to which thought I will give my attention to, if any thought at all. Great post!
