Final blog

Hi to all,
I have to say that I have been on this journey for many years and I am always looking to improve myself. I understand that we can always grow and learn from life’s experiences. So I really did not want to put a score because I feel that I am growing and learning each day and I will always be. To but this in numbers is not something that makes sense to me. I guess as far as goals I can say that I wanted to improve my nutrition as far as eating healthier foods and I have done this. I guess a lot of it was the holidays that caused worse eating.
This course for me was the best course I have taken so far and I say that because it is everything that I believe in and have believed in for many years. I was so happy to see that they even offered a course such as this one. I feel that it would benefit all people and I hope that in the near future it becomes a required course and not an elective. This teaches people how to relax, enjoy, be healthy, and heal one’s self. It teaches us that we are whole and not just parts that need to be fixed. It is all about the mind, body, and spirit. When we learn how to treat ourselves with love, kindness, and compassion, than we can teach others how to do the same.

My Journey Unit 9

As a health and wellness professional it is important that we are able to develop psychologically, spiritually and physically so can teach others how to accomplish the same healing techniques.  Our personal development is what teaches us and gives us the ability to helps others along the way. If we do not understand it ourselves than there is no-way we can help someone else develop happiness, wholeness, and health. The journey begins with us. I have been on this journey for many years looking for ways to heal holistically.  I realized many years ago that I had to heal spiritually, physically and psychologically in order to become whole. I understood that these are all part of being whole and I could not just work at one part and not the other, it had to be healed as a whole (mind, body, spirit).
My goal is to continue to improve in all areas of integral health (mind, body, and spirit). I don’t think that we can ever know it all and be at a place that no longer needs improvement. I try to work on improving my skills daily by just being aware (conscious) of my feelings inside and out as well as how all things affect me.
Spiritually for me is to be aware of all things that make up a whole. It is about knowing our true essences, the person we were born to be. It’s about being connected to all things that make up a whole (life). I know that I am on the right track when I feel peaceful, loving, compassionate, and balance. When I feel out of sorts with any of these feelings I know that I need to go within to find out why I am of track. I can do this by meditation, walking in nature, or being conscious of my inner feelings. Any one of these can assist me in finding out what is creating the blocks so I can make the connection in order to heal it. Again using my mind to find the source, my body to feel where it is stored, and my spirit to make the connection so it can be healed.
Psychologically is very important in having great health. Most of us know that when our thoughts become negative or unhealthy our bodies become affected. Our bodies are great at letting us know that we are not psychology balanced. Thoughts are things and we are affected by the thoughts that we hold in our minds being good or bad. I was taught this at a young age by my Grandmother. Once I realize that I can choose to be happy or unhappy I worked hard at changing my negative thoughts into positive ones. I fully understand what it means by “it is not what happens to us as much as it is in how we handle it” (unknown author). I live by these words after losing my 22 year old son last November. So I can say that for me to be healthy psychologically is one of the most powerful thinks we can accomplish in life. This is done my choosing our thoughts and not allowing our thought s to choose us! A healthy mind is a fit mind and this is very important in integral health to accomplish wholeness, happiness, and health.
Our physical health gives us the ability to be strong. Not just in body but in mind, body, and spirit. Physically I am very fit and work hard at staying this way. I have learned how important it is to keep our bodies fit so we are strong mentally, physically and spiritually. For me when I feel physically unfit my whole being is out of balance. This in turn thought’s off my system as a whole, creating things in my life that I worked hard to heal. I believe that we all need to be physically healthy in order to maintain our integral health. Integral takes work and we need to be on top of our game in order to do this. It is not just about body strength, but overall physical strength. We create this by the foods we eat, exercise we do and the loving kindness that we give to ourselves. When we take time to nature ourselves we are creating good physical health and as we all have learned from this course how important it is to be healthy physically.  I believe that again we need to be balanced in all areas of health, physically, spiritually, and psychologically. When we can balance all areas of integral health we are on our way to a wonderful, loving, healthy and peaceful life. Which brings me to the next step, my goals!
I did not score any of the areas of my life because I don’t have a number for where I am at this time. This is a journey for me and I have been on it for many years so to put a number on something that really does not have a number would be unfair to all of us. I do though have goals and wish to obtain them the best I can. Psychological is one that can always be improved so for me I want to choose my thoughts carefully, remembering not to judge, criticize or belittle others.  The goal is to always be aware of my thoughts and only giving power to the loving, kind, and compassionate ones and allowing the negative ones to just pass through without giving them power. Physically a goal for me is to keep doing what I am already doing and incorporate more nutrition into my diet by again being aware of what I am eating and not eating. Spiritually my goal is to keep growing to higher levels of consciousness and to help others obtain the same.
To continue to practice for my personal growth I have some strategies that I will use so I can stay on track to where I am headed as well as to where I have already been. For spiritual practices I will continue to meditate each morning centering myself with my higher potential. I can use a guided meditation or I can just sit outside on the grass with my eyes closed being still and listing to my inner self. I also love to hug trees and give thanks for their strength and power. To stay physically fit I will continue working out 3 to 4 times a week. I will also incorporate more nutritious meals by planning ahead and not just eating things without being conscious of what I am eating. I will fix things in advance so they are in the refrigerator and ready to eat. Psychological strategies I will write positive affirmations and post them around the house to remind me to hold positive thoughts and let go of all things that no longer serve my higher good. I will watch more funny movies and less negative ones. I will sing and dance like no one is watching or listing. I will remember to love more and judge less.
As I have stated earlier that I have been on this journey for many years and I am only learning how to reach higher levels by my full intentions. I fully intend on growing spiritually, psychologically, and physically and will be able to monitor my progress by being fully aware of my inner self. For me this is a way of life and has brought me this far and will continue to bring me too much higher levels of awareness. I am so grateful that this class was offered and I hope to have more classes like this one. It has been a true blessing and I will forever be grateful for what I got to experience in this class and in life. It has all brought me to where I am today.

Meditations

Hi,
For me it is hard to just pick two practices because they all were and are very beneficial to me. I have used meditation for a long time and I am always looking for different ones to use. Loving Kindness was wonderful because it gave me the opportunity to give back to people that I did not know as well as people that I do know. It taught me how to send out love and kindness to the world without any personal connection. I was able to let go of situations that had bothered me in the past with people without having to talk to them or reason with them. This was very healing for me. The Subtle mind meditation taught me how to just watch my thoughts flow through my mind without getting caught in them or giving power to them. This was also healing for me. We all get caught in our thoughts and if we don’t know how to let go we become them like a broken record that just keeps spinning. Visualization is very powerful when meditating because it gives us the opportunity to see things the way we need to as well as should. It gives us direction. I am a visual person so to do this type of meditation is great for me. I have a focus point to watch and this helps me stay present. I will use all of them because it helps me to stay balanced, happy, peaceful, loving and grateful. It gives me a sense of being connected to my higher self (true essences). I have loved what this class has taught me as well as how it has reminded me of who and what I truly am. A spiritual being having a human experience!

Aesclepius

Hi
This meditation is wonderful. At first I had a hard time quieting my mind so I could relax enough to follow along. The holidays are very busy for most of us and I don’t think I have come down yet. Anyway back to the meditation. Finally after a few moments I was able to relax and get into the meditation and I really felt the full presents of the healer in front of me. When the meditation was finished I sat for moment thinking about what had just happened and I can to fully realize that we all do have Aesclepius within us and we can access this presents whenever we chose. The meditation left me feeling a sense of power, love, and gratitude for all that I have experienced in my life, be it good or bad. When we realize that we are in charge of how we think than anything is possible.

We cannot teach others how to have happiness, wholeness, and health if we have not learned how to reach it ourselves. It is through our personal experiences that we can teach someone else how to. I do believe that if we are going to help others heal than we need to learn how to heal ourselves. As a professional in the healing field of integral health it is important to know through our own experience how to help others reach a place of happiness, wholeness, and health. If we cannot reach it ourselves than how can we teach someone else too? We can wake up each day with the intention to be happy, healthy, and spiritual. By doing so we are willing to take the steps necessary to live a happy, healthy and spiritual life.

Growth and Development

Hi
This exercise was not as easy for me as the others because when I have to read the meditation I am not able to connect as well as if I were listening to it. Anyway I did the best I could do so what I learned is that I need to work more on nutrition and community although all areas can use some sort of improvement. These were the two that really grabbed my attention.  Nutrition is an area that really calls out to me. I work so much on all the other areas and my eating habits are not as good as the others areas of my life. I do eat healthy most of the time but I eat way to much sugar knowing that it is making me feel bad mentally and physically. It is funny that after I did this assessment I knew that I have to address the nutrition more seriously because I have been telling myself for a while that I need to change my eating habits (sugar). Community is another area because I would like to reach out more to the community than I do. I feel this will help me to grow more as well as helping others.

To assist me more in these areas I can me more mindful of what I feel like when I am craving the sugar and eat a piece of fruit instead of chocolate. I think that becoming more mindful will really help me in changing this. As far as community I can volunteer to help out in our community. This is a good way to learn about the needs of our community. If any of you have more suggestions I would love to hear from you.
